What's the story?

Inter Milan have named their price for Manchester United's long term target - Ivan Perisic. Less than a week before the transfer windows closes, clubs are desperately trying to bolster their squads.

Arsenal who have not signed a single player this January, are keen to bring Ivan Perisic to the Emirates.

In case you didn't know...

Manchester United had the chance to sign Ivan Perisic in the summer, but the move failed to materialise as the English giants refused to shell out extra money as demanded by Inter Milan.

Earlier this month, Unai Emery made it clear that Arsenal can sign players only on loan this transfer window. David Ornstein of BBC recently reported that Arsenal had made a move to sign him on loan for the rest of the season, with a £35 million option to buy him in the summer.

Perisic who joined Inter in 2015 from Wolfsburg, has expressed his desire to leave the Serie A side.

The heart of the matter

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Mirror), Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have made contact with Inter to discuss the player's situation, and have been quoted a price in the region of €40 million.

The report suggests that the Italian giants could prefer to send the Croat to Atletico in the hope of receiving the cash. The Premier League is understood to be Ivan Perisic's preferred destination, but Arsenal's financial restrictions could tarnish his hopes.

Rumour Rating: 6/10

Only a few days are left before the transfer window closes, and Arsenal have to react quickly to secure their first signing this transfer window. Ivan Perisic is undoubtedly leaving the Serie A giants, but his destination is still unclear, with Arsenal and Atletico Madrid vying for the winger.

What's next?

Arsenal are in dire need of a player who can bring pace and experience to the squad. A move to Arsenal will be the best option for the winger who has expressed a desire to join the Premier League.
