Reports: Arsenal set to sign PSG star on loan in January
Will Wenger sign him on a permanent basis next summer?
What's the story?
Arsena are reportedly looking to bring Paris Saint-Germain winger Julian Draxler to the Emirates with a possible loan deal in the offing.
According to French publication L'Equipe, the Premier League club have already approached PSG over a loan spell rather than a permanent transfer. The loan deal will only see Draxler spend the rest of the season at the north London club.
In case you didn't know...
This is not the first time Draxler has been linked with a move to Arsenal. The 24-year-old German international was a Gunners target when he was at Schalke - the club where he rose to prominence - before he moved to Wolfsburg.
He was also linked with a move last summer but has been at PSG less than a year. Draxler had moved to Ligue 1 in a deal worth £35.5m.
The heart of the matter
Although Draxler moved to PSG with high hopes last season, the club's acquisition of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe for a combined fee of approximately €402m has seen his game time reduced drastically.
Draxler has only started 8 games this season (in Ligue 1 and the Champions League) - coming off the bench 7 times so far. And when he does start, he has only lasted 90 minutes four times.
He has also been forced to play in a midfield role rather than on the wing where he is at his prolific best.

This seems like a win-win for both parties. Arsenal will benefit from Draxler's presence and could convince him to be Alexis Sanchez's replacement in the future. The club are resigned to losing the Chilean forward and, though Draxler would now be an ideal like-for-like replacement, his addition certainly improves the squad.
PSG cannot offer him what he wants at the moment with Cavani, Mbappe, and Neymar taking up the front three slots. With the World Cup also around the corner, Draxler will want to get as much game time as he can to get selected in the Germany squad that travels to Russia next summer.
