What’s the rumour?
Barcelona are ahead of other clubs in the race to sign Luka Jovic from Frankfurt. According to Le10Sport, the Catalans are having positive discussions with the player’s entourage.
In case you didn’t know
Luka Jovic has taken European football to storm this season. The forward has scored 14 goals from 20 Bundesliga games and has put himself on the radar of top clubs like Real Madrid and Chelsea.
However, Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bobic ridiculed those claims, saying: "It does not scare me, but it surprised me, first it was Barcelona, then it was Real Madrid, now Chelsea, who’s tomorrow, Juve, the day after tomorrow, someone else, that was a bit too much.”
The heart of the matter
But it seems like Bobic’s words haven’t really stopped the stories as the report from France claims that the talks between the player and the Catalan outfit are progressing very well.
They also state that while nothing has been signed as of yet, the Blaugrana are ahead of the other clubs for the young striker coveted by a plethora of top European teams.

It is quite absurd that an outlet from France breaks a news about a Spanish club wanting to sign a player plying his trade in Germany. Barcelona might as well be looking at Jovic as a possible successor to Luis Suarez’s throne but the story just doesn’t seem to add up.

Jovic has already broken through this season to make a name for himself. He now has to continue his good form as that would almost certainly guarantee lots of interest in the summer transfer window if there wasn’t enough of it already.
