What’s the rumour?

Juventus are set to raid Liverpool for star forward Mohamed Salah and are prepared to offer Paulo Dybala plus €50 million to seal the deal.

In case you didn’t know…

Salah has been one of the stars of the Premier League since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer of 2017.

Last season, the Egyptian scored an astonishing 43 goals in all competitions as Liverpool finished in the top four and reached the final of the Champions League.

The Reds star is currently joint-top of the Premier League scoring charts with 17 goals, alongside Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero. Salah’s form has made him a target of transfer speculation, with Juventus being the latest to be linked with the former Chelsea winger.

The heart of the matter

TuttoSport reports that Juve are plotting a staggering bid to sign Salah from Liverpool in the summer. The Italian champions are reportedly willing to offer forward Dybala and an additional €50 million to sign the Egyptian.

The Serie A giants are believed to be targeting a deadly attacking forward line for next season which would feature both Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The report claims Juve have been forced to offer a player plus cash deal in order to reduce Liverpool’s asking price of €200m for their star man. The Italian giants are fully aware of what Salah brings to the table, having faced him countless times during his stints with Serie A sides Fiorentina and AS Roma.

Rumour probability: 6/10

Salah is currently Liverpool’s top scorer and the club values him very much. In fact, there are reports that the Egyptian will soon be offered fresh terms with improved wages.

This, therefore, makes it highly impossible that he would want to depart Anfield anytime soon. However, if silverware continues to elude the Reds, then it is only natural that Salah could consider a move elsewhere.

What’s next?

Juventus return to Serie A action on Friday against minnows Frosinone and would hope to extend their 11-point lead at the top of the table.
