What’s the story?

Liverpool have had a decent transfer window so far, having broken their transfer record for the services of AS Roma forward Mohamed Salah. Apart from that, Jurgen Klopp's side have also recruited Andrew Robertson from Hull City and Dominic Solanke from Chelsea.

Fresh from the 4-0 thrashing of Arsenal at Anfield, the Reds are on a high. And according to Sky Italia (via Sky Sports), the Reds are set to further bolster their squad with the loan signing of Renato Sanches from Bayern Munich. The Portuguese international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena outfit, with numerous clubs including Chelsea and Monaco interested in his services.

In case you didn’t know…

Renato Sanches arrived at Bayern Munich from Benfica for a deal in the region of £27m last season but failed to establish himself under Carlo Ancelotti.

The 20-year-old struggled for game time last season, making only 25 appearances for the Allianz Arena outfit, which in total afforded him 903 minutes of first-team football.

Bayern Munich, meanwhile, have further bolstered their squad with the club record capture of Corentin Tolisso and the loan deal of James Rodriguez, which further reduces any chances that Sanches had of making it to the first-team.

The heart of the matter

Liverpool are close to agreeing a loan deal for Renato Sanches and his agent Jorge Mendes, was present during the Monaco game as he is also involved in Kylian Mbappe's mega move to Paris Saint-Germain. However, upon his return from his trip to the French Riviera, the Portuguese super agent will conclude the deal of Sanches' move to Anfield.

Sanches had informed Bayern Munich of his decision to leave the club and he was allowed to take time off during Bayern Munich's win over Werder Bremen.

The Reds will have to shell out in excess of £30m if they are to make the Portuguese's move permanent, however, there is no compulsion to buy in the deal.

Author's Take

Renato Sanches is one of the most coveted youngsters in all of Europe, having come through the ranks of Portuguese giants Benfica. The youngster shone in Portugal's 2016 Euro winning campaign and would be a valuable addition to the Reds squad.

Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita but a deal appears to be dead as of now, and that has pushed the Reds to make a move for the Bayern Munich midfielder.
