What’s the story?

It seems as though Premier League giants Manchester United are gearing themselves up for the next season as they are eying a move for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele in the summer transfer window.

In case you didn’t know…

Ndombele was the subject of heavy speculation both in the summer and winter window of this season. Spurs were the first ones to be linked to him and then in the recently-closed January transfer window, Manchester City’s name was attached to him.

Heart of the matter.

But now, it seems like Manchester United have also entered the race for the midfielder. According to reports in France, the Red Devils are eyeing a move for the midfielder.

However, Juventus and Inter are the two clubs leading the race for the midfield enforcer valued at €80 million by Lyon chief Jean-Michel Aulas. The report also adds that Manchester City had earlier made a €50 million bid for him and that it was rejected.

This summer, however, Lyon are expecting to receive a bid worth more than the amount that came to them last year.

Rumour Probability Rating: 3/5

Manchester United signed Fred in the last summer window but the Brazilian has failed to make a place for himself in the lineup. While there might be some substance in the stories linking the midfielder to the Old Trafford, there is not much logic in the Red Devils spending €80 million to bring in another midfielder.

What’s next?

Tanguy Ndombele has made a very good name for himself in France. He is having another good season at Lyon and when a player becomes close to world-class at a club like Lyon, he is almost certain to leave at some point. Only time will tell as to which club he is going to end up at in the summer.
