What's the rumour?

Real Madrid defender Marcelo has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus over the course of the current season, and it appears the Brazil international is seriously considering his future at the club.

In case you didn't know...

Since Ronaldo's departure from the Bernabeu, Marcelo has been heavily reported to be considering a reunion with his former teammate at Turin. The Portuguese has reportedly also been communicating with the Brazilian daily in a bid to bring him to the Serie A.

The left-back, whose contract expires in 2022, has had a discouraging season so far, marred by injury and under-par performances, as a result of which he has been at the centre of criticism from fans and media.

Following Real Madrid's shock defeat to Girona on Sunday, Marcelo took to Instagram to respond to an account criticising his form.

The post read: "Why is Marcelo still a starter? Look I love him but f*** me, you have to be realistic... I hope he returns to his best level as soon as possible!"

According to Goal, the Brazilian promptly apologised saying, "It’s all my fault. We move on!"

The heart of the matter

Marcelo has played 13 out of 24 league games for Los Blancos so far this season and is reportedly frustrated by the situation.

According to COPE, the defender met with Real Madrid managing director José Ángel Sánchez on Monday to discuss his future at the club.

The report claims that Marcelo is ready for a summer exit if the situation remains the same.

Rumour rating: 8/10

Despite Florentino Perez being unwilling to let another senior player leave, a move could well be on the cards for Marcelo especially with his lack of defensive contribution to the team this season.

Considering Reguilon's comparatively better form, Marcelo would have to work harder to get himself back in form if he wishes to stay at the Bernabeu.
