What's the story?

Marcelo has been linked with a move to Juventus several times over the course of the ongoing season. There have been suggestions that the Brazilian is keen on reuniting with his close friend Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus.

However, now the Real Madrid left-back has come out and rubbished all rumours linking him with the Turin club in an interview with Esporte Interativo (courtesy: AS).

In case you didn't know...

Marcelo is no longer the first-choice left-back at Real Madrid and has fallen down the pecking order under Santiago Solari with Sergio Reguilon being preferred ahead of the Los Blancos veteran.

Marcelo has only started 11 games this season and has also been heavily linked with a move to Juventus.

The heart of the matter

Marcelo has announced his admiration for Juventus but has also said that he has no idea where the rumours are coming from. Speaking to Esporte Interativo, the decorated Real Madrid ace said,

"I'd also like to know where are these rumours coming from because it's not normal. It's funny because they [the press] make pictures with a Juve shirt.
"Juve is a splendid team since the times of [Pavel] Nedved, I once played against them and he was there, it was amazing, I changed shirts with him.
"But I'm from Real Madrid, I have a contract with Real Madrid and the things that are being published, I don't know what they are [coming from], you don't know, many people don't know either and honestly, I'm a sincere man, you know it.
"If there was anything to be told, I'd say it - but nothing."

So there you go. Real Madrid fans can rest assured in the knowledge that their beloved left-back's loyalty is unwavering.

What's next?

Marcelo's defensive contribution or the lack of it has been a major concern over the past couple of seasons and with Reguilon proving to be adept in that aspect, the Brazilian will need to up his game to win his starting XI berth back. For now, he looks determined to do so.
