Reports: Radamel Falcao happy to stay at AS Monaco

Radamel Falcao is content at Monaco

Colombian striker Radamel Falaco insists that he is keen to be part of “the project” at Monaco and is happy to stay at the principality club.

The ex- Atletico Madrid forward is reportedly being courted by a number of clubs, but the Colombian striker sees his future as part of Leonardo Jardim’s team. In view of Alvaro Negredo’s recent injury, even Manchester City have been brought into the fray as one of the clubs interested in recruiting the talismanic forward.

In a recent interview, the Monaco number 9 said: "I believe in Monaco's project. I want to stay here and play Champions League football with Monaco. We will strengthen the team in order to be ready for the Champions League."

He is currently undergoing rehabilitation to recover from a knee injury he sustained in January in which he ruptured his cruciate ligament. The injury was severe enough to make him miss this year’s World Cup in Brazil.

Asked by a journalist on whether he would be plying his trade at the Bernabeu any time soon, the former Porto star said that he was fully focused on recovering from the injury rather than Real Madrid or for that matter any club.

"I'm a Monaco player.”, said Falcao. "Right now I'm just focused on fully recovering from my knee injury."

Falcao joined Monaco last summer from Atletico Madrid for £47 million, reportedly snubbing interest from many major clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid.

The Colombian ace has been the subject of numerous tabloid articles linking him to clubs all around Europe, ever since he broke out on the scene as the focal point of Porto’s attack under Andre-Villas Boas, winning the treble (Primeira Liga, Taça de Portugal and UEFA Europa League) for the Portuguese club in 2010-11.
