Florentino Perez might finally sign a top-notch striker for Solari's squad for next season.

What's the story?

According to the reputed Spanish media outlet, Marca, Real Madrid have reignited their interest in Mauro Icardi, who could be available for less than €100 million due to an unhealthy relationship with his current club, Inter Milan.

The report suggests that European elites including Manchester United, PSG and Juventus are also eyeing a move for the Argentine sharpshooter.

In case you didn't know..

The Argentine forward has been a hot prospect in world football from the past couple of seasons. This season, the striker has contributed with 15 goals and 3 assists in just 28 appearances for the club so far.

With the build-up of a toxic relationship within the squad and with the club's hierarchy, the striker is tempted to leave the club at the end of the season. Inter, on the other hand, might be forced to let go of him at a cut-price in the region of €40-50 million, the report claims.

Icardi's broken relationship with his club makes his summer exit evident. It remains to see which of the afore-mentioned clubs succeed in luring the striker home.

The heart of the matter

The two-time Serie A top-scorer has a contract with Inter Milan until 2021. However, things have gone worse since the striker was stripped of the captain's armband on 13th February, and has been out of action since then.

The Nerazzurri issued a statement explaining that the centre-forward wasn't injured despite missing games against Rapid Vienna, Parma, Sampdoria and Fiorentina.

When asked about the Icardi situation, Inter boss Luciano Spalletti refused to answer as he said, "I have to talk about the others, the guys who come to the field and come to train and have their hearts set on Inter and our destiny".

The problems with Icardi aroused when Inter wanted to renew his contract and increase his release clause from €120 to €200 million. The striker didn't pen a new deal and as of now, he wouldn't be doing it at all, it seems. Keeping a close eye on the situation, Juventus, Manchester United, and Real Madrid are set to battle for the player in the next summer.

What's next?

While Manchester United already have Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford fighting for the ranks, it seems unlikely that the Red Devils will make a move for the former Sampdoria man.

On the other hand, Real Madrid, who are desperately looking for a top-notch striker to lead the attack at the Bernabeu, will endeavor to secure the services of the Argentine forward.
