What's the story?

With just a few days left in the January transfer window, Real Madrid are busy planning last-minute moves to strengthen their squad.

According to a reputed Spanish media outlet, AS, Real Madrid target Luka Jovic as their long term solution of goal scoring problems upfront.

In case you didn't know...

Luka Jovic's exploits in the current season is quite staggering. The 21-year-old sharpshooter has scored 18 goals in 25 games with Eintracht Frankfurt - 13 in the Bundesliga and five in the Europa League - and is leading the top scorer's list ahead of Marco Reus, Robert Lewandowski and Paco Alcacer.

The talented goalscorer is playing at Eintracht Frankfurt on loan from Benfica but with a buyback option.

On the other hand, the departure of Real Madrid's greatest goalscorer, Cristiano Ronaldo, left them without a talisman. It is crystal clear that the likes of Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Marco Asensio are not capable enough to solve the goalscorer crisis.

The heart of the matter

Despite Karim Benzema's recent good run of form, Los Blancos are without a talisman in the current season. Moreover, the arrival of Mariano Diaz has not proven successful yet and there is a distinct lack of depth in the current Real Madrid frontline which is quite concerning.

Florentino Perez is desperate to build a squad and revamp the frontline due to Los Blancos' poor performances in this season.

Luka Jovic can be an ideal option as the striker is versatile and has good finishing. He will also be a cheaper option than the likes of Harry Kane and Mauro Icardi.

According to the report, Real Madrid are looking for a young striker and have set their sights on Luka Jovic but they will have to hurry as Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also interested.

Rumour rating: 6/10

Real Madrid are considering spending huge to build a fresh team. They usually get the player they want but it remains to be seen how Florentino Perez moves with just a few days remaining in the transfer window.

What's next?

After the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, Real Madrid are showing inconsistency but will be keen to end their season with at least one major silverware.

Santiago Solari's men will face Girona in the Copa del Rey, and Ajax in the Champions League, and will hope to continue their recent good run of form in LaLiga.
