Reports: Real Madrid promise Eden Hazard Cristiano Ronaldo's salary as talks progress

Hazard
Is he the Premier League’s best player

What’s the story?

Real Madrid’s move for Eden Hazard is edging ever closer with the latest reports suggesting he is has been offered a massive salary if he agrees to join them. The Belgian is in hot form with Chelsea this season with Blues looking to wrap up their 5th Premier League title in quick time.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are currently the top earners at the club and Los Blancos are willing to put the Belgian on the same pay scale as those two if he agrees to a move this summer.

Hazard has been a long-term target for Madrid and according to Marca, talks are progressing well with the Chelsea man’s agent.

In case you didn’t know...

Hazard has managed to score 11 goals this season and also has 4 assists. Madrid were interested in him last summer as well but after considering his form they decided against it. But the 2014/15 PFA player is of the year is back to his best once again.

The heart of the matter

Last summer Zizou brought in only Alvaro Morata from Juventus and the Spaniard has struggled for game time. Benzema still gets the nod ahead of him and it looks very likely the Spaniard will be used as part of the deal for Hazard.

There is also the James Rodriguez situation. There are reports suggesting that he also could be part of the deal that bring the Belgian winger to the Bernabeu. Hazard’s agent has apparently had positive talks with Madrid representatives but Chelsea also have their own demands.

Hazard is also apparently learning to speak Spanish which only adds more weight to the likelihood of this move taking place. Chelsea’s No. 10 has made no secret of the fact that he admires the Spanish giants and would one day want to wear the white of Madrid.

What’s next?

Even if the player is keen on the move there will also be the small matter of paying Chelsea the amount they ask for. It could go up to more than 100 million Euros which could also mean the world record being broken just one year after Pogba’s transfer set it.

Author’s take

This move will most likely go through. There has been considerable interest from both parties for some time now and even if Chelsea do win the league it won;t be enough to keep Hazard at Stamford Bridge.
