Lukaku : Seeking pastures new

Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku has grabbed headlines yet again, as the striker has reiterated his desire to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer. The 21 year old spent the previous season on loan at Everton, and scored 15 goals in 31 appearances for the merseyside club. Mourinho’s decision to sign Eto’o and allow Lukaku to leave, was described as ‘naive’ by the press, who believed the Belgian was ready to fill in the void left by star-man, Didier Drogba. Lukaku had publicly voiced his displeasure about the signing of Eto’o and has once again gone on record, criticizing his permanent employers.

“You know Chelsea, every year they buy a new top striker,” said Lukaku in an interview. “I remember me coming into the dressing room last year and seeing Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba and going, ‘Whoah! What’s happening here?’

“But no problem. Many clubs are interested in me. At this stage, I have to look to myself. I have to play a good World Cup. That’s very interesting for all the players looking for a transfer. And I must be one of them. Chelsea know my point of view.”

Should Chelsea decide to offload Lukaku, it will be a massive set-back for their supporters, who have nicknamed him the ‘Demi-Drog’.

The striker is currently rated at £28 million by the London Club, who expect to make a 10 million profit on a player they signed back in 2011.
