Ridiculous Rumour of the Day: Xavi wanted by Man United and Arsenal?

Xavi

Xavi has spent all of his professional career with Barcelona

Barcelona pass master Xavi has emerged as a transfer target for Premier League trio Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal, report the Daily Star.

The 34-year-old has two years left on his contract with the Catalan giants but is now expected to turn his back on the side that he has played at for his whole career in the search of one final pay day.

Seven La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies have not quenched the thirst for success of the Terrassa born midfielder and he is now expected to play out the twilight years of his career in England’s top flight.

Able to command a salary in the region of £150,000-a-week, Xavi has previously admitted his attraction to Arsenal’s playing style, while Manchester City’s recent Premier League league title will no doubt have impressed the pint sized playmaker.

However, of the three clubs reported to be interested in his signature, it is the red half of Manchester that appear to be leading the race.

With the Red Devils set to be in the market for a creative midfielder, the Spain international could be lured to Old Trafford with the prospect of playing alongside Tom Cleverley and sideways passer extraordinaire Michael Carrick surely more attractive than continuing to revel in his god like status at the Nou Camp.

With a pathetic contingent containing Cesc Fabreags, Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta it is no surprise he can’t wait to leave.

However, with team mate Alex Song linked with a move to Manchester United too, Xavi could struggle for playing time and could be set to stay at Barcelona.
