The Turkish referee showed a straight red card to Luis Nani for a tackle on Alvaro Arbeloa, which became the focal point of the game. Real went on to win the match 1-2, having been trailing till the red card incident.

Ferdinand was expected to face disciplinary action from UEFA. However, Sky Sports News have broken the news through their Twitter account, stating that UEFA will not impose any disciplinary action on Ferdinand.
