#3 Unconfident Timo Werner struggling to rediscover his best form

Germany forward Timo Werner and his club teammate Kai Havertz have both flattered to deceive since arriving at Stamford Bridge last summer.

But unlike Havertz, wearing the color of his national team has not provided relief for Timo Werner.

Having started a second consecutive game on the bench, the 25-year-old was introduced in the 77th minute and he had two good chances to get on the scoresheet.

The former RB Leipzig man, however, fluffed his lines on both occasions, shooting straight at Nita in the first, while the Bulgaria goalkeeper worked his reflexes to save the second.

A prime Werner would have converted one or both chances but his physical posture after missing opportunities was an indicator of the severe lack of confidence he is suffering from at the moment.

#2 Convincing performance helpes Germany maintain a 100% start to the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

The last few years have represented low points for Germany on the international stage. First, they suffered the debacle of getting eliminated from the group stage of the 2018 World Cup as defending champions and finished bottom of their group in the maiden edition of the UEFA Nations League a year later.

An embarrassing 6-0 defeat to Spain concluded their second sojourn in the UEFA Nations League and news of Joachim Low's impending resignation brought a glorious cycle to an end.

However, Die Maanschaft have not let these issues bother them and they have begun their quest for qualification for Qatar 2022 impressively.

Their 3-0 victory over Iceland was followed by another dominant performance against Romania and despite registering just a one-goal margin, Germany totally outplayed their hosts from start to finish.

They had 64% possession and had 19 shots, with nine of those on target. The only downside to their performance was the inability to score a second goal and they were almost punished for it at the death.

The victory puts the Germans in high confidence ahead of the visit of North Macedonia on Wednesday.

#1 Serge Gnabry makes the difference for Germany

Serge Gnabry has had a complete makeover in the last three years and looks nothing like the player who struggled for form and playing time at Arsenal and West Brom.

He was re-born with Bayern Munich and is now one of the standout players in world football.

The 25-year-old came close to scoring on several occasions against Iceland but had to make do with an assist. He, however, made amends with the winning goal against Romania and had several chances to add more goals to his name.

The goal means that Gnabry has now scored 15 goals from just 19 international games for Germany, making a mockery of those who suggested he was not good enough for elite football.
