2011/12: Barcelona vs Real Madrid (La Liga)

Barcelona v Real Madrid - Copa del Rey
Ronaldo slots the ball into an open net to silence the Nou Camp

The Whites visited the Camp Nou with one eye towards getting one hand onto the league trophy. Sami Khedira had opened the scoring in the 17th minute. Late on in the second half, Alexis Sanchez equalized for the Catalans. Within three minutes of the Chilean’s goal, Ronaldo pounced onto Mesut Ozil’s brilliant through ball. The Portugal captain rounded Victor Valdes and finished off a brilliant move. Following the goal, Ronaldo imitated Raul’s ‘calma, calma’ celebration.

That goal by Cristiano didn’t just silence close to one hundred thousand people in the Camp Nou, but also silenced Barcelona’s hopes of the La Liga title. Real went forward to lift the title later that month with an unprecedented 100 points.
