Manchester United icon sends Premier League title message to Arsenal following shock result
Earlier this Saturday (November 23), Manchester City slumped to a shock 4-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League home clash. The result left the Cityzens in second spot with 23 points from 12 games.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Manchester United legend Gary Neville asserted that the Gunners and current leaders Liverpool have a good chance of winning the Premier League title. He said (h/t football.london):
"If you're Arsenal, if you're Liverpool – I'm thinking the two genuine teams that can win the title other than Manchester City – you must not get carried away but feel there are no excuses here now. I'm looking more at Arsenal with that statement than Liverpool."
Neville, who won eight Premier League titles as a player, added:
"At the start of the season, anyone looking at Arne Slot coming in and has done what he's done would say: 'I'm not quite sure that will happen'. This was Arsenal's season if it wasn't going to be City's. The pressure is really on [them] to step up and go for it. But, for Liverpool to be sat at the top of the league, with that back five and front players they have, they must be really fancying it."
Liverpool are atop the league standings with 31 points from 12 matches after a 3-2 comeback win at Southampton earlier on Sunday. The Gunners are in fourth place with 22 points from the same number of games.
