According to Caught Offside, Arsenal and Newcastle United are among the clubs interested in Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo. Mbeumo has been in scintillating form in the Premier League this season, having already notched up eight goals in the English top flight.
For Arsenal, the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Gabriel Jesus have suffered a dip in form. They have had to be over-reliant on Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz for some spark upfront. To that end, they are looking to bolster their attack.
On Newcastle’s part, they are considering a move for Bryan Mbeumo as uncertainty surrounds Alexander Isak's future. The Swedish striker has been linked with an exit from St James’ Park.
Other clubs interested in acquiring Mbeumo’s services include Liverpool, Manchester United, and Aston Villa. Brentford are expected to set the player’s valuation at around £40 million, as per the aforementioned source.
Mbeumo joined Brentford from Troyes in 2019 for a reported fee of €6.5 million. In his five-year stay at the club, he has scored 58 goals and provided 43 assists in 214 appearances across competitions.
Arsenal handed injury blow ahead of Champions League clash with Sporting CP
Arsenal have been handed a big injury blow ahead of their Champions League clash with Portuguese side Sporting CP on Tuesday, November 26. The north London club have struggled with multiple injuries to key players over the last few months. Players like Jurrien Timber, Riccardo Calafiori, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Ben White are all out of action.
White became Arsenal’s latest injury concern after the English defender underwent a minor procedure during the November international break. In what will come as bad news to the Arsenal faithful, the defender’s recovery period will not be short, with Arteta revealing he will be out for months. He said (via Football London):
"It's been different kinds of struggles. It's never been the same thing. We had to make a decision. It's not been improving in the last few weeks unfortunately. We know that Ben is going to push every boundary but it got to a point a where we have to protect the player and we decided to do the surgery.
"He agreed with that and unfortunately that's going to keep him out for a few months. I don't know at the moment. We have to see how he reacts post-surgery. I don't expect him to be half a year, but I cannot tell you exactly."
On Tomiyasu and Tierney, Arteta said:
"Kieran not yet. He had a couple of sessions with the team, but not ready yet. Tomiyasu is going to be out as well for a period."
