Arsenal and Tottenham interested in signing Crystal Palace
Arsenal and Tottenham interested in signing Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi in the summer. As per Give Me Sport, the Gunners are looking to strengthen their defense next season.

William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes did well for the majority of the season. However, Saliba's injury meant that Rob Holding and Jakub Kiwior came into the lineup and the results went downhill since.

The north London side have won just two of their last eight games and have lost the Premier League title to Manchester City.

Arsenal are now looking to add reinforcements to improve their squad further with young and promising players. They have identified Marc Guehi as a potential summer target.

The English centre-back has helped Crystal Palace keep nine clean sheets in 36 league games this season. The 22-year-old has also garnered interest from the Gunners' arch-rivals Tottenham, who need major defensive reinforcements in the summer.

Spurs have conceded a whopping 60 goals in the Premier League this season, the sixth-highest in the league. The likes of Eric Dier and Clement Lenglet have been far from impressive and Spurs are looking to improve on their defense in the summer.

As per the aforementioned Give Me Sport report, Guehi is likely to cost around £50 million. His contract with Crystal Palace, which he joined from Chelsea in 2021, expires in 2026.

Arsenal and Tottenham interested in Real Madrid defender

In a bid to further improve their defense, Arsenal and Tottenham are also reportedly interested in Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy.

Mendy, 27, joined Los Blancos from Olympique Lyon in 2019. He was earlier the backup for Marcelo but gradually became the first-choice left-back. However, he has had an injury-laden 2022-23 season, making just 26 appearances across competitions.

As per SPORT, Real Madrid are open to selling Mendy this summer and could even sell him for around €20 million. Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in signing the Frenchman.

Arsenal signed Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City but he has been injury prone and has shown defensive lapses at times. Meanwhile, Kieran Tierney is expected to leave.

Tottenham, meanwhile, could see Sergio Reguilon and Ivan Perisic depart alongside Ryan Sessegnon. They signed Destiny Udogie from Udinese last summer but he stayed at the Italian club on a season-long loan.

Hence, Mendy could be an excellent addition to both sides. However, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti recently asserted that he wants the Frenchman to stay at the club next season.
