Barcelona reportedly owe Manchester City €26 million for versatile attacker Ferran Torres. As claimed by finance expert Stefan Borson (via Barca Universal), the Blaugrana still need to pay the Cityzens two instalments of €13 million each for the Spain international.
Ferran Torres joined Barcelona in January 2022 in a reported €55 million deal from Manchester City after falling down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola. Expectations were massive from the former Valencia attacker but he has not quite been able to live up to those at Camp Nou.
Torres has not been able to establish himself as a first-team regular for the Catalan giants. However, he has been a reliable squad option thanks to his versatility as he can cover all three positions in the attack.
The 24-year-old has so far made 123 appearances for Barcelona with 54 of them as a substitute. He has been pretty effective, however, with 26 goals and 15 assists. Prior to his switch to the Catalan club, Torres made 43 appearances for Manchester City scoring 16 goals and producing four assists.
Capped 48 times for Spain, Torres has been a dependable player for his country with 21 goals and five assists. He was a part of the Spanish team that won the European Championship in 2024.
Luis Figo names his favorites for LaLiga clash between Real Madrid and Barcelona
Former Real Madrid and Barcelona winger Luis Figo has predicted the outcome of the huge LaLiga clash between Real Madrid and Barcelona this weekend. The Blaugrana will travel to Madrid to face their arch rivals on Saturday, October 26.
Figo, who played for both Spanish clubs, has insisted that it is incredibly difficult to call a winner in El Clasico. He, however, reckons Real Madrid are favorites thanks to their home advantage. He told Cadena SER, as quoted by Football Espana:
“A Clasico is always unpredictable. Everyone wants to be there, lots of rivalry, lots of aggression. It doesn’t matter much how either team comes into it in terms of performance, because the result is unpredictable."
"It’ll be good, Madrid has to favored a bit, because they play at home, and they have to win to be there at the top," the former Portugal international added.
Barca have enjoyed a stellar start to the season under their new manager Hansi Flick. They are currently at the top of the table with 27 points in 10 games, leading second-placed Real Madrid by three points.
