Manchester United have the upper hand in signing Angel Gomes from Lille

Angel Gomes prefers a move to Manchester United rather than Chelsea and Arsenal, according to a report by The Hard Tackle. This implies that he might be rejoining the Red Devils next summer.

The 24-year-old joined Lille as a free agent from Manchester United in August 2020. Gomes was then sent on loan to Boavista to gather more experience.

Since returning from loan in June 2021, Gomes has proven to be a formidable midfielder for Lille. In 129 games, he has netted nine goals and registered 19 assists for the French side. This season, the Englishman has registered 15 appearances for Lille, scoring one goal and making one assist as well.

The recent interest in Gomes by several Premier League clubs could be linked to his contract situation at Lille. Gomes' contract with Les Dogues is set to expire next summer and he's yet to sign a new deal, which means he could leave as a free agent.

As per the aforementioned report, the player's preferred destination is Manchester United as he feels he has unfinished business at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are reportedly looking to make Viktor Gyokeres their prime target next summer, according to a report by Mirror (via Transfer News Live on X).

This comes after the Red Devils strikers have failed to deliver in attack this season. New signing Joshua Zirkzee has only scored once in 18 games across all competitions. On the other hand, Rasmus Hojlund has only scored twice in 13 games.

Gyokeres has netted 24 goals and registered four assists in 19 games for Sporting. If signed by United, Gyokeres will definitely enhance the Red Devils attack. The Swedish international is contracted at Sporting CP till June 2028.

The Red Devils will have to splash some cash if they intend to secure Gyokeres' signature as Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested in signing the player (via the Sun).
