Chelsea are reportedly leading Liverpool in the race for highly regarded Leece left-back Patrick Dorgu. As claimed by Caught Offside, the Denmark international has caught the Blues' attention with his exploits in Italy for Leece.
Chelsea have spent heavily since their takeover by Todd Boehly-led Clearlake Capital in 2022. A major part of the west London giants' heavy spending has been on top youngsters from across the globe.
The Blues have reportedly set their sights on Dorgu as they look to bolster their squad but face strong competition for his signature. Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur, Napoli and Juventus are all reportedly interested in the Danish full-back.
While Dorgu is predominantly a left-back, he is also capable of playing at right-back and has also been deployed in advanced roles down both flanks. He is blessed with enormous pace, technique and flair.
In 48 appearances for Leece till date, he has scored five goals while setting up one goal. Capped four times by Denmark, he has scored once for his country as well.
Liverpool could do with additions at left-back with Andy Robertson clearly not the player he used to be. Aged 30 now, the Scotsman has shown signs of his age catching up with him. The Reds have a solid alternative in Kostas Tsimikas but Dorgu could be the long-term successor to Robertson at Anfield.
Chelsea, on the other hand, have Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell as options at left back. Enzo Maresca has made it no secret that he does not see Chilwell as part of his plans and has played him on just one occasion this campaign.

Chelsea are reportedly ready to spend €100 million for the signature of Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens. As claimed by Bild’s Michael Makus, the two Premier League giants are among a host of clubs from across Europe keeping an eye on the Englishman.
As claimed by Makus, the Blues are looking to get themselves in the driver's seat for Gittens with a €100 million offer for the 20-year-old. Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are among the other clubs to have registered their interest in the former Manchester City youngster.
Gittens, who was formerly in the youth ranks of Chelsea, Reading, and Manchester City, joined Borussia Dortmund in 2020. He has developed really well since, having registered 12 goals and 13 assists in 76 appearances.
