In a bid to trim their squad, Chelsea are willing to offer Reece James to Barcelona, according to a report by El Nacional. This latest development could be tied to James' consistent fitness issues as he's currently recovering from a hamstring injury.
Since the Englishman was named as Chelsea's captain, he has only registered 654 minutes of game time. After missing the 2024 Euros, James returned to action in Chelsea's 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on October 20.
However, he sustained a fresh hamstring setback in training and he's expected to be on the sidelines for at least one month. James' persistent fitness dilemma could be why the Blues are looking to offload him in January 2025.
James was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid last summer. But his fitness crisis could be why Madrid has relaxed their interest along with their interest in signing Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool.
As reported by EL Nacional, Chelsea are looking to offer James to Barcelona not more than €20 million. It is believed that James could be a natural replacement for Jules Kounde at right-back if signed.
James has registered four appearances for the Blues this season, registering only 241 minutes on the pitch. The 27-year-old is contracted at Stamford Bridge till June 2028.
Chelsea could loan Ben Chilwell to Juventus in January 2025 - Reports
Juventus are currently looking to sign Ben Chilwell on loan from Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window, as per Tuttosport (via Tribuna).
Their interest in signing Chilwell could be tied to the long-term injury of Juan Cabal. Cabal's anterior cruciate ligament tear is expected to keep him on the sidelines for the remainder of the season.
Chilwell has struggled to secure sufficient game time at Stamford Bridge. While this could be attributed to his fitness dilemma, Juventus are reportedly willing to sign him on loan.
In the 2024-25 campaign, the Englishman has only registered one appearance for the Blues, representing 45 minutes on the pitch.
Last summer, Chilwell pushed for a move out of Stamford Bridge but was unsuccessful in finding a new club. With Juventus currently interested in signing him, he could leave in the upcoming transfer window.
Chilwell's potential departure could be beneficial to the Blues as they look to offload some players in January 2025.
