Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly rejected a stunning contract from the Saudi Pro League as he holds out for Manchester United and Arsenal. The striker is furious with Sporting CP as they have gone back on their promise to sell him.
As per a report in L’Equipe, Al Hilal were keen on getting Gyokeres and made him an offer this week after Victor Osimhen rejected them. The striker was quick to reject it as he wants to stay in Europe and is not willing to move.
Record have added that Gyokeres is fuming that Sporting CP are now pricing him out of a move to the Premier League. They claim that the striker had an agreement with the club to let him leave this summer for €65 million, but they are holding out for €80 million.
Manchester United and Arsenal have held talks with Gyokeres as they look to bolster their attack. However, they have not progressed their move talks and have switched focus elsewhere.
Manchester United have been linked with Victor Osimhen after he rejected a move to the Saudi Pro League. They were keen on Liam Delap, but the striker opted to join Chelsea instead.
Arsenal are in talks with Benjamin Sesko, who is also a target for the Saudi Pro League this summer. The RB Leipzig star is also keen on staying in Europe and has no plans to make the switch to the Middle East.
Manchester United would have signed Arsenal target if they had UCL, claims Fabrizio Romano
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Manchester United would have 99% sealed the deal for Viktor Gyokeres this summer if they had qualified for UEFA Champions League next season. He claims that the Red Devils' loss to Tottenham in the Europa League final saw them rethink their transfers and said on his YouTube channel via TBR Football:
"Viktor Gyokeres remains the other option on the table for Arsenal, but as it’s now two-three weeks that Arsenal are not advancing on the Gyokeres deal, all the other clubs keep calling his agents. That’s what happened in the last 48 hours. From what I heard, Man United, last week, had new contacts with Viktor Gyokeres’ camp to be informed on the situation."
"Something like ‘If Arsenal are not doing the deal, we are still there, we are still interested’. Then, for Man United, we have to see financially, how they can make it happen. Because, with Champions League football, I’m 99 per cent convinced that they were going to close the Gyokeres deal quite quickly. That was the feeling. Then, no Champions League football, they lost the final in Bilbao. It’s more complicated financially."
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Sporting CP want €65 million for Gyokeres this summer. The striker is reported to be Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta's top target.
