Journalist Graeme Bailey has tipped Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to leave the club by the end of the season after his failure to make his mark. The English midfielder signed for the Blues in the summer following an excellent season with Leicester City in the Championship.
Dewsbury-Hall was seemingly on his way to Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer when the Blues swooped in and signed him for a reported £30 million. He was pivotal in helping his former side return to the Premier League on the first time of asking under Enzo Maresca in the 2023-24 season.
Bailey spoke with The Chelsea Chronicle about the situation of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, pointing out that his signing with the Blues in the summer was strange. The journalist predicted that the midfielder will move away from the club next summer, seeing as they have a lot of talented players in his position.
“Maresca knew about him and knew he was a quality player. It was a very strange deal. I don’t think he’s going to be at Chelsea at the start of next season. It is what it is. He’s not the only one it will happen to. Chelsea are well set in that department,” he said (via Vince).
Dewsbury-Hall was one of Leicester City's most important players in their bid to gain promotion from the Championship in the 2023-24 season. He scored 12 league goals and provided 14 assists in 44 games as he was named in the Championship Team of the Season.
However, he's had to be content with brief cameos at Chelsea, with most of his minutes this season coming in the UEFA Europa Conference League and Carabao Cup. The midfielder has already opened his account with the club, scoring once in the Conference League against Gent. He has made 11 appearances across competitions, playing for a total of 583 minutes for the Blues this season.
Forgotten Chelsea star closes in on return to full fitness
Chelsea striker Armando Broja is nearing a return to action after his Achilles injury from the summer. The Albania international, who is on loan at Everton, has recovered from an Achilles injury he arrived at Goodison Park with in the summer.
Broja played for 45 minutes for Everton's U-21 against Watford U-21 on November 25, making his first appearance since pre-season. The striker is now pushing to be on the bench when his side travel to Manchester United at the weekend, as per Football.London.
Everton have struggled in front of goal this season, scoring just 10 goals in 12 games in the league. The Toffees have only managed to outscore 20th-placed Southampton, indicating that they need a consistent goalscorer. Broja has recorded just eight goals and three appearances in 66 Premier League games.
