Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The Reds see the Frenchman as the ideal replacement for Luis Diaz, who could leave this summer.
As per a report in The Sun, Barcola is the latest name on Liverpool's wishlist. They are working on finalizing the Florian Wirtz deal but have started laying the groundwork for their next targets.
Arne Slot's side believe they can prise Barcola away from PSG by offering him a starting role at Anfield. They want to take advantage of the Ligue 1 side signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and lure the 22-year-old winger, who has been linked with Chelsea, too.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are chasing Diaz and are looking to sign him this summer. The Catalan side have made him their #1 target, though the Reds are determined to keep him.
The Colombian winger spoke about his future at Anfield, saying he was open to all options. He wants to renew his contract but is ready to leave if the Reds do not plan to extend his deal. Luis Diaz said (via GOAL):
“If Liverpool don’t extend our contract, I still have the two years I have left with them, and I’ll be happy to stay there. Now it’s up to them. I’m here to decide and look at what’s best for us and the future."
The Sun have reported that Barcola will cost Liverpool £100 million. They are already spending over £100 million this summer on getting Florian Wirtz, who is on the verge of joining the Premier League champions from Bayer Leverkusen.
The English publication have mentioned Alexander Isak as another option for Slot's side if they do not get Barcola.
Emile Heskey urges Liverpool to sign striker
Former player Emile Heskey has urged Liverpool to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United. He believes the striker would be the perfect player to get the attack together. The Swedish player registered 27 goals and six assists in 42 games for Newcastle in the 2024-25 season.
Heskey told Prime Casino:
"I can’t see it happening because I think they’ll have to move heaven and Earth to get a deal done, but Newcastle’s Alexander Isak would fit in perfectly for the way Liverpool play. They’re missing a player to link everything together like Bobby Firmino did."
He added:
"He worked in that system to join up with Sadio Mane and Mo Salah, but he wasn’t exactly a No.9. He dropped deep, he had an exceptional workrate, just phenomenal. Someone like Isak works really well. But I can't see Newcastle selling it if I'm honest with you."
Emile Heskey went on to claim that Florian Wirtz would do well at Anfield only if they sign a striker.
"At the moment, if you’re bringing in Florian Wirtz, you need a striker to make that work, because Wirtz is creative and he needs someone to get on the end of things, not get in his way," he said.
