Manchester United are reportedly plotting a cash-plus-player bid to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli. The Red Devils are ready to offer Joshua Zirzkee as a part of the deal this summer.
As per a report in Gazzetta dello Sport, Osimhen is a target for Manchester United after he rejected offers to join Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia. The Red Devils are looking to bring in a striker and see the Napoli star as the ideal player.
Napoli are open to a sale and agreed a deal with Al Hilal. They also have an offer from Galatasaray, where Osimhen spent the 2024/25 season on loan. He is keen on staying in Europe as he wants to prove himself and is keeping his options open.
Al Hilal had agreed terms with Osimhen twice, but the Nigerian striker changed his mind and officially rejected their fifth offer earlier this week.
Napoli want €75 million for Osimhen this summer and are unwilling to negotiate on the price. However, Manchester United are confident that they can secure a deal by offering Zirkzee, who joined them from Bologna last summer.
The Serie A champions have a good relationship with the Red Devils after signing Scott McTominay for £25.7 million last summer.
William Gallas urged Victor Osimhen to join Manchester United
French former defender William Gallas spoke to Prime Casino earlier this year and urged Victor Osimhen to join Manchester United. He claimed that the Red Devils are the perfect fit for the striker, as they need an experienced star to lead their attack. He said (via GOAL):
"We’ve seen foreign players before, it’s often difficult for them in the first season. The second season they step up, so it’s not unusual at all. Even [Cristiano] Ronaldo, in his first season he wasn’t the Ronaldo we know now, but in the second season there were signs."
“It all depends which club. If Arsenal need results straight away, they need to win the Premier League next year, then they need one player who can do it straight away. They don't have time. If we talk about Manchester United, from where they are now, they don't need to win the league. They’re looking to be top four or top five, so maybe they can give Osimhen the time he needs."
Victor Osimhen was close to joining Chelsea last summer but failed to agree terms on deadline day. PSG were also interested in the forward, but decided not to bring him in.
