Manchester United are allegedly interested in signing Porto star Samu Omorodion, who was close to moving to Chelsea earlier this summer.
Omorodion, who helped Spain win the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, was set to join the Blues for close to £34 million earlier this August. After the deal broke down due to contractual issues, he sealed a £13 million permanent switch to Porto from Atletico Madrid.
The Granada academy product has started his career at Porto on a fine note. The 20-year-old has found the back of the net 11 times, two times against Manchester United, in 11 overall outings this campaign.
Now, according to Spanish website Fichajes.net, Manchester United are aiming to add Omorodion to their ranks in the near future. They are likely to face competition from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
However, Omorodion is reportedly very happy at Porto and is not thinking about a move away from the Portuguese outfit. He has a contract until June 2029 and has a hefty release clause of around £84 million.
Last season, the Chelsea transfer target scored eight times in 34 La Liga matches for Deportivo Alaves while on loan from Atletico Madrid.
Pundit suggests Chelsea midfielder humiliated 26-year-old star in latest Premier League draw
Earlier on Sunday, the Stamford Bridge club registered a 1-1 Premier League draw against Manchester United. Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 70th minute before Moises Caicedo restored parity with a brilliant volley just four minutes later.
In the third minute of injury time, Cole Palmer escaped from Lisandro Martinez with a deft touch before being brought down by the United defender. The referee chose not to send off the left-footed centre-back.
During a post-match chat on Sky Sports, Manchester United great Roy Keane was asked to share his thoughts on Martinez's cynical challenge on Palmer. He replied (h/t Metro):
"He's a lucky boy. Honestly. He won't be happy with Cole Palmer making a fool of him, it's a great piece of skill. And it's a nasty tackle. He's a lucky boy. He doesn't catch him properly, it's down the side of his leg. But if he got sent off, I'd say: 'No complaints'."
Palmer, who has contributed 12 goals and assists in 10 league games this season, produced a good display at Old Trafford. He created three chances and completed all four of his dribbles for Chelsea this Sunday.
