Real Madrid are preparing for their LaLiga tie against Getafe on Sunday (December 1) at the Santiago Bernabeu. Carlo Ancelotti's team arrive at the game on the back of a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool in midweek (Wednesday, November 27) in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Los Blancos have set their sights on a Spanish midfielder. Elsewhere, the LaLiga champions have decided to offload Aurelien Tchouameni next year.
On that note, let's look at the major Real Madrid transfer stories from November 29, 2024.
Real Madrid eyeing Martin Zubimendi
Real Madrid have entered the race to sign Martin Zubimendi, according to journalist Jose Felix Diaz. The LaLiga giants are preparing to revamp their squad after a mixed campaign so far.
A new left-back and a new right-back remain on their agenda, but Los Blancos are also considering reinforcements in the middle of the park. Real Madrid opted against signing a replacement for Toni Kroos this summer, with the German maestro hanging up his boots.
Meanwhile, Luka Modric is also in the final phase of his career and isn't expected to carry on much longer. The Croatian's contract at the Santiago Bernabeu expires at the end of this season and he hasn't signed a new deal yet.
The LaLiga champions have apparently identified Zubimendi as an option to address the position. The Spaniard was wanted by Liverpool this summer but opted to stay with Real Sociedad.
However, he could be tempted to take the next step in his career next summer. His contract with the Basque club expires in 2027. Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Arsenal are also eyeing him with interest. Los Blancos are also on the list of his admirers but haven't initiated a move for the 25-year-old yet.
Los Blancos plan Aurelien Tchouameni exit
Real Madrid are planning to cash in on Aurelien Tchouameni in 2025, according to Fichajes.net. The French midfielder has failed to impress this season and Los Blancos seem to be running out of patience with him.
Tchouameni was initially roped in to fill Casemiro's boots at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, the 24-year-old hasn't been in his element for a while and the club are ready to move him on.
Liverpool are long-term admirers of the player and could be in the mix for his services in 2025 if he is available. Tchouameni has registered 15 appearances across competitions this season. His contract with the LaLiga champions runs out in 2028, so he is likely to cost a fair fee.
Virgil van Dijk addresses Santiago Bernabeu rumors
Virgil van Dijk has downplayed rumors linking him to Real Madrid. The Dutchman is one of the finest defenders of his generation and was indispensable to Liverpool's recent success.
However, the 33-year-old's contract at Anfield expires at the end of this season and he hasn't been offered a new deal yet. Los Blancos are eyeing defensive reinforcements in 2025 amid an injury crisis at the back and Van Dijk has been mentioned as an option.
However, the Dutchman recently pointed out that Real Madrid already have Antonio Rudiger.
“Are they? Really? But they have Rüdiger there…As I already said, my full focus is on next game against Man City and that’s it,” Van Dijk said (as cited by journalist Fabrizio Romano).
Van Dijk has registered 287 appearances for Liverpool to date and registered 25 goals and 13 assists.
