Koke

Manchester United’s hopes of signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke appear to have faded, as reports emerge from the Spanish capital that the youngster is not keen on a move away from the club. United had been heavily linked with a move for the midfielder in the summer, and had looked set to return with a bid in the January transfer window. However this looks less likely, with the Independent reporting that Koke is not keen on a move.

The 21-year-old midfielder had been identified as one of a number of targets to plug the gaps in Manchester United’s struggling midfield. He has made 16 league appearances for Atletico this season, appearing in all of their La Liga fixtures so far.

The Spanish side currently sit second in La Liga, ahead of their city rivals Real and only behind leaders Barcelona on goals scored. Koke has been a key part of this success, pulling the strings in midfield and contributing three goals.

Manchester United, on the other hand, currently sit eighth in the Premier League, in large part due to a lack of creativity in midfield. However Moyes will have to look beyond Koke in order to boost his ailing side, as the midfielder wants to stay with Diego Simeone’s flying Atletico side.

Koke has provided eight assists this season – the joint highest in La Liga alongside Cesc Fabregas.
