Rumour: Barcelona may offload 13 players in summer transfer window

Several Barcelona players may be on the verge of an exit

Barcelona are secretly carving steps to rebuild the squad for their next season according to reports in Spain and it looks like they might be offering as much as 13 players in order to achieve their objective.

After experiencing an agonising season domestically and in Europe, the club officials have decided to reshuffle and develop a new squad in accordance for a new coach who is due to be appointed in the next season.

With rumours of Tata Martino exiting from the Camp Nou, it is highly possible that Barca are looking into Luis Enrique as their next manager.

While two signings have been confirmed for next season – Croatian youngster Alan Halilovic signed on a five year deal and Marc Andre ter Stegen set to join – President Josep Maria Bartomeu and sports vice president Jordi Mestre who are responsible for taking the executive decisions will have a lot of thinking to do in terms of acquiring the future reinforcements.

The concept of the new Azulgrana squad will be based on the untouchable players which includes the likes of Lionel Messi, Pique, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta, Neymar, Montoya, Marc Bartra and Xavi. From here on, the new players will be signed in accordance to the new coach’s preference and vision to whom the Barca board will entrust their full support.

Meanwhile, players, who aren’t considered as a part of The Untouchables may be sacrificed in the process. Club veterans like Carlos Puyol, Victor Valdes and Jose Manuel Pinto have already confirmed that they will be departing from the team this summer while six youth products of the La Masia squad who have been bench warmers for most part of the season are seeking for an outlet.

This includes Jonathan Dos Santos (30 million buyout clause, signed through 2015), Ibrahim Afellay (100 million, 2015 ), Cristian Tello (25 million, 2018), Isaac Cuenca (20 million, 2015), Sergi Roberto (20 million, 2015) and Oier Olazabal (12 million, 2015).

While heavyweights like Pedro and Alexis Sanchez may also be included in the transfer list as they have competed for a starting spot since the arrival of Neymar. Fabregas and Mascherano have grown distant with the Catalan supporters while Alexis Song has failed to cover for Busquets when required.

Dani Alves, who has been an instrumental figure for the Blaugranas may be axed too following his drop in performances. The Brazilian right back, who was an integral part of the dominant Barcelona, may move out of Spain for a new challenge on fresh territories.

Looks like Barcelona will be strongly involved in the summer transfer window.
