Rumour: Edin Dzeko staying put at Manchester City

Manchester City v Swansea City - Premier League

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has dismissed all talks of the possible exit of Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko. This comes following rumours of Arsenal wanting to land the goal scorer at the Emirates.

Edin Dzeko was signed from Wolfsburg for a massive 27 million pounds in 2011. However, this season, the striker has seen his chances limited to that of a substitute, after in form summer signing Alvaro Negredo and talisman Sergio Aguero struck a lethal partnership.

Arsenal are keen to sign the forward, which would provide much needed cover for Olivier Giroud, and cement their place at the top of the table. However, Pellegrini is adamant that Dzeko, who has scored 7 goals in his 14 appearances this season, will stay put at least till the summer.

“No, that is not the case [that Dzeko could be sold],” he said.

“I put my trust in him before the season and I have just as much trust in him now. It is very important for this club to have a good squad because we have a lot of games to play from now until April and, if we want to win trophies, we need important players,” he added.
