With the change of rule in homegrown player quota from 8 to 12 in the 25 man squad, EPL managers are expected to be busy tracking some young talents that fulfil theIR criterion. The rule is supposed to be implemented from 2016 season onward.

Although according to the list released, Manchester United have got the maximum number of homegrown players in their squad, Mourinho will certainly look to reinforce this sector.

According to The Sun, a new name has surfaced in Jose Mourinho’s wish list, and Will Hughes is the man who seems to have done enough to attract interest from the new United boss.

It has been quite a remarkable transfer window for Manchester United and their fans till now. The signings of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly shows good intent from Jose Mourinho, who seems to be wasting no time in reshaping the squad.

In an attempt to have a balanced group of young and experienced players, Mourinho seems to be tracking few young players that will fit into his system and he sees the Derby midfielder as one.

While a number of clubs hold an interest in the midfielder, United is ready to match the £7 million asking price, set by Derby, to get their man who still has 2 years left on his current contract. It is believed that Mourinho sees him as one for the future, who can certainly break into the first team, considering the progress he has shown.

The 21-year-old Hughes is a promising youngster who has represented the England team at U-17 and U-21 level. Making his debut for the U-17 side in January 2012, he made it to U-21 debut in the same year in November. He was only the second youngest player to be capped at the U-21 level just behind Theo Walcott.

His development has been pretty noteworthy in the last few years for the championship side Derby. Last year he was out with injury for six months after he damaged his anterior cruciate ligament. But his talent and attacking mindset have got the clubs running after him this season, and Manchester United seems to be potentially winning the race at the moment.
