Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic has turned down the opportunity to join Arsenal on loan for the remainder of the season, despite the Gunners showing strong interest in the forward, according to Italian sport reporter David Amoyal, who works in connection with Sky Italia and Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The 30-year-old is out of favour at the Italian giants, having made just eight appearances this season, and is desperate to secure first team football by leaving on loan for the remainder of the campaign. He has been deemed surplus to requirements by Antonio Conte, who is chasing unsettled S20outhampton striker Dani Osvaldo.

Several clubs have shown interest in the Montenegrin, including Internazionale, whom he almost joined last week in a swap deal with Fredy Guarin, only for the club to pull the plug at the last minute.

With Arsenal in the market for an additional striker as they look to end their trophy drought a deal for Vucinic was believed to be close but reports from Italy have now suggested the player has opted to rebuff the advances of both Arsenal and La Liga side Valencia to fight for his place at the Turin outfit.

Di Marzio: it appears Vucinic has turned down both Valencia and Arsenal and wants to remain at Juve

I don’t know why Vucinic would turn down Arsenal, but his agent was in touch with the Gunners for awhile- I think something changed

Mirko Vucinic’s 28% duel success rate is the worst of all the Old Lady’s strikers.
