A trio of Premier League clubs face stiff competition from Italian side Roma to secure the signature of highly rated Fenerbahce defender Caner Erkin this summer, report the Daily Star.

The Turkish full-back, who boasts 26 senior caps for his national side, has produced a string of impressive performances for Ersun Yanal’s side this season and has been tipped to leave the side at the end of the season on a free transfer.

Although Fenebahce recently secured the league title with three games to spare, Erkin has been tracked by several prestigious European clubs including Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal, who are likely to turn to his head.

The left-back joined the Turkish side from CSKA Moscow in 2010 and could finally be set for a move to a prestigious European league with Roma now interested in his services too.

The Serie A side are currently in Turkey finalising a deal for Fenerbahce team mate Salih Uçan and reports have emerged they could return in the near future for Erkin.

The player’s agent Batur Alt?parmak has also revealed that there has been widespread interest in his client from several clubs in England, ”I don’t usually like giving names but it is great for the players confidence that clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea are showing an interest.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea are likely to lose stalwart Ashley Cole in the summer, Liverpool need back up for Jon Flanagan and Arsenal need to bolster their ranks due to concerns over Nacho Monreal’s ability.

Erkin could prove to be a useful addition for any of the trio, but just how definite the interest in the 25-year-old remains to be seen.

Caner Erkin has scored three goals in 28 league appearances for Fenerbahce this season.
