Rumour: Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United to battle it out for Xabi Alonso

Early reports suggested that Xabi Alonso has agreed to a contract extension at the Santiago Bernabeau, but contradicting reports have emerged since. With the Spaniard’s current contract set to expire in the summer, his future seems uncertain and may be resolved in the coming 2 to 3 weeks.

Real are keen on extending the 32-year-old’s contract, though no negotiations have taken place and the Bernabeau outfit are apprehensive of the situation.

David Moyes is monitoring the situation closely, and should an extension not materialize the Scot would definitely look to sign up the World Cup winning Spaniard to end his midfield woes. He also eyes on the Spanish international as an experienced option to replace the retired Paul Scholes.
