Rumour: Liverpool eye Brazil full-back Adriano

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has reportedly targeted Barcelona full-back Adriano as the solution to his side’s problem left-back position.

Metro believe that Liverpool are lining up a £6 million summer move for the 29-year-old, who is currently back up to Jordi Alba at the Camp Nou.

Rodgers’ Liverpool side has surged to second in the Premier League table this season, but have had difficulties at left-back. First choice in the position Jose Enrique has been injured for a large part of the season, leading a number of other players to fill in.

Mamadou Sakho, Jon Flanagan and Glen Johnson have all played out of position at left back this season, while summer signing Aly Cissokho has not come close to making the position his own.

With Cissokho only on loan at the club from Valencia, and not appearing to do enough to warrant a long term deal, Rodgers is likely to be in the market for a left back, sparking the Adriano rumours.

Adriano has featured in 17 La Liga games this season, scoring three goals. However his place in the side has largely been reliant upon injuries to usual left back Jordi Alba and he may be receptive to a move to Anfield in search of regular football next season.

Adriano has averaged 2.93 interceptions per 90 minutes played this season.
