Liverpool are targeting Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno to solve their defensive problems while keeping their options open on other full-backs, according to the Liverpool ECHO.

Moreno won the Europa League with Sevilla last night as they beat Benfica on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes. He has been linked with a move to Anfield for a number of months but Real Madrid and Chelsea are also strongly interested in Moreno.

The Reds remain in talks with Southampton over the potential signing of their captain Adam Lallana after submitting a £20 million bid earlier this week.

However, they are also looking at other targets, including Moreno, who is top of Brendan Rodgers’ left-back wishlist.

Furthermore to winning the Europa League, Moreno was selected in Spain’s 30-man World Cup squad and has a strong chance of making the final cut and heading to Brazil.

The 21-year-old is one of the rising stars of Spanish football and is likely to command a fee in excess of £15 million.

Other left-backs in consideration for Rodgers is Benfica’s Guillermo Siqueira and Chelsea’s Ryan Bertrand, who spent the second half of the season on-loan at Aston Villa.
