Rumour: Liverpool want Chelsea's Fernando Torres back

Fernando Torres of Liverpool celebrates scoring the opening goal during the Barclays Premier League match between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield on August 19, 2007 in Liverpool, England.

Will the Liverpool fans accept him back?

Liverpool are apparently looking to make an offer to re-sign their former player Fernando Torres back in the summer, reports Sports Direct News.

Brendan Rodgers is supposedly very eager to bring Torres at Anfield to bring more experience in the side, with signing Iago Aspas who was bought to provide cover for Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge failing to make any big impact at the club.

Chelsea spent heavily to sign Torres back in January 2011, but Jose Mourinho is now believed to be looking at other options as he pursues the likes of Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney and Zenit St Petersburg forward Hulk.

According to SDN, Torres will be available for a fraction of the price the West London club paid for his services in 2011 and Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes Torres can provide invaluable European experience next season if the Reds clinch a Champions League spot this term.

It would be interesting to see how the Liverpool supporters react to this story after Torres infuriated the red half of Merseyside three years ago when he completed his £50 million switch to Chelsea.

The Spaniard has started 13(7) games for Chelsea this season, while scoring 6 times and notching 2 assists.
