In recent reports, Manchester City are all set to reignite their interest in long time target Eliaquim Mangala this January transfer window.

The young Porto defender has caught the eye of several top clubs this season, with impressive performances for his Portuguese side. The center back is being touted as one of the brightest talents in world football at this point in time.

With the recent troubles Manchester City has been facing in defence, particularly the center back department, manager Manuel Pellegrini is on the look out for an accomplished player in that position to partner Vincent Kompany.

The deep pocketed Etihad club have already been linked with several high profile names like Bayern Munich star Dante and Celtic player Virgil Van Dijk. Although the Manchester club have money to burn, they might balk at the £42 million price tag on the Frenchman, who is yet to be tested on the big stage.

However, as the Blues face a daunting UEFA Champions League quarter final fixture against Barcelona, and attempt to win silverware this season, the manager will be looking to sure up his defence to boost his chances.
