Manchester City have landed their ship in Germany in their search for a new forward in the form of Schalke’s Julian Draxler, according to reports. The highly rated German international has long been touted with a move to Arsenal, but it now looks as though City have also sniffed out the potential in the youngster and ready to steal a march on the Gunners.

The 21-year-old’s name has been omnipresent amongst Gunner faithful and all have been looking at the German with a rather inquisitive look of “when” rather than “if”, when it comes to joining the North London outfit. However, the Citizens seem to have a plan of their own and are now said to be preparing an offer.

Draxler is said to have been built in the mould of Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie, both of whom were wingers before they were converted into world class centre-forwards by Arsene Wenger.

Although still 21, and with time on his side, Draxler’s progress has been halted time and again due to injuries. The young German is currently out after sustaining a serious thigh injury earlier in November in a Bundesliga fixture against Augsburg. In his injury-cut season, Draxler manager to find the back the net twice in 8 appearances for Schalke.
