Rumour: Manchester United boss to eye Patrick Herrmann this weekend

Manchester United manager David Moyes will take advantage of his side’s weekend off by travelling to Germany to scout highly-rated young winger, Patrick Herrmann, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 22-year-old has been in sparkling form for Borussia Monchengladbach, scoring three goals and assisting four others in a productive season.

United’s third round loss to Swansea City earlier this month means they have no FA Cup tie this weekend, allowing Moyes to do some scouting of his own and watch Herrmann play against Bayern Munich.

Their defeat to Chelsea at the weekend was their seventh in the Premier League this season so Moyes is keen to add some star quality to his squad.

The reigning champions have been linked with a host of top stars all season and that has increased since the January transfer window opened.

Ilkay Gundogan, Yohan Cabaye, Julian Draxler and Marco Reus as well as a host of other players are all been linked with a winter move to Old Trafford but none are yet to materialise.

It seems, though, that Moyes’ willingness to watch Herrmann in person is an indication of his intentions.

Only Max Kruse (50) and Raffael (28) have created more chances than Herrmann (26) for Monchengladbach this season.
