Manchester United boss David Moyes was in Madrid last night to take a look at Atletico Madrid youngster Koke ahead of a potential January move. 21-year-old Koke has been impressive for a resurgent Atletico Madrid over the past two seasons and secured himself a spot in Vincente del Bosque’s full Spain squad during the last international break.

It is well known the problems United have in midfield with Michael Carrick injured and Marouane Fellaini struggling to adapt at Old Trafford and Moyes could make another bid to rescue United’s title challenge. Moyes was looking at the Spanish market in the summer as he failed in attempts for Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas and Athletic Bilbao’s Ander Herrera but could make another bid for a promising Spaniard.

Koke has been ever-present for Madrid this season, playing in every league and Champions League game for Los Rojiblancos who qualified in top spot from Group G this week. Madrid have lost just once all season and are hot on the heels of Barcelona in La Liga due to some impressive performances from the likes of Diego Costa, Raul Garcia, Thibaut Courtois and Koke himself.

In the league Koke has been in scintillating form. His three goals have helped Madrid maintain their title challenge but he has also set up an astonishing nine goals for teammates Costa and David Villa.

He may have signed a new contract this year but Moyes believes he can activate a release clause in Koke’s contract which is reportedly worth £24m. If that is the case then expect Barcelona and PSG to interfere with United’s intentions, similar to what Bayern Munich did with Thiago Alcantara in the summer.
