Rumour: Manchester United linked with Manchester City's Stefan Savic

Savic

Manchester United are reportedly tracking former Manchester City centre-back Stefan Savic, who currently plies his trade with Fiorentina in Serie A, according to TalkSPORT.

Savic joined Fiorentina as part of the deal that took Matija Nastasic to the Etihad Stadium after failing to establish himself in the Premier League.

But he could be given a second chance in England as United manager David Moyes looks to rebuild his squad following a disappointing campaign in his first season in charge.

Centre-back is a position that will require serious work, with Nemanja Vidic confirming that he is set to exit the club at the end of the season, with a move to Inter Milan looking increasingly likely.

Rio Ferdinand is also likely to leave the club in the summer with his contract due to expire, while Moyes seems unsure as yet whether Phil Jones is more suited to the role of defender or midfielder.

Savic has been recommended to them by fellow Serbian Vidic and United reportedly made enquiries during the January transfer window while the sides talked terms over the loan of Anderson to Fiorentina.

Eliaquim Mangala and Ezekiel Garay are also both targets, but Savic is seen as a more affordable option and United could test the water in the summer to convince the Italian club to sell.
