Manchester United are set to miss out on their top targets Fabio Coentrao and Koke, despite the urgent need of additions at the club.

Coentrao has reportedly agreed a deal with Manchester United, but they are set to miss out on the left-back for the second consecutive window with Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti insisting that no transfers will take place at Madrid during this window.

“No players are leaving and we’re not going to sign anyone,” said Carlo Ancelotti, on Sunday. “The window is closed for us.”

After Moyes failed to land his top target, Leighton Baines in the last window, he moved his focus on Coentrao and a last ditch attempt to finalize the deal before the close of the window was unsuccessful, with the Portuguese reportedly upset of not being able to secure a move to Old Trafford. Despite Madrid’s public stance of no transfers, Coentrao’s agent Jorge Mendes remains hopeful that he will be able to persuade the Bernabeu out-fit into selling the 25-year old.

Koke on the other hand will be staying at Atletico Madrid, after their Sporting director Luiz Caminero insisted that he won’t be leaving the club mid-season and is there to stay for a long time.

“Koke will be with us for many years. I am convinced,” Caminero said. “He is a player who has improved considerably. [He] has also made it into the Spain squad and that puts you in the spotlight and opens more eyes.”
