According to various sources, Jose Mounrinho is the preferred choice to set up a new dynasty on the red side of Manchester. The current Real Madrid coach isn’t very keen on continuing at the Santiago Bernabeau and is looking for a return to the Premier League.

Chelsea were touted as the preferred choice for Mourinho but it is understood that Manchester United are asking the Portuguese to snub the Blues and instead choose the newly-crowned champions. The club has also shown interest in Everton coach David Moyes, but Mourinho is reportedly the management’s first choice.

Reports emerged from The Times this morning that Chelsea weren’t keen on paying up the buyout clause of Mourinho which, now, looks like enough of an incentive for the Glazer family and the rest of the board to make their move.

Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed this morning that he is retiring from the role of the manager and will now take on a Directorial and Ambassadorial role at the club.
