Andre Gomes is one of the greatest talents in Portuguese football

Valencia star Andre Gomes has been turning his heads with his good performances with Valencia last season and it was reported that Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United were favourites to sign the talented Portuguese youngster. However, recent reports have emerged claiming that both Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in securing the midfielder’s services.

Andre Gomes was not at his best for Portugal in Euro 2016 with Renato Sanches replacing him in the starting line-up for the latter stages of the tournament. However, both Real Madrid and Barcelona remain convinced about Gomes’ abilities and see him as a signing for the future.

Barcelona technical director Robert Fernandez is said to be interested in the Portuguese trio of Andre Gomes, Cedric Soares and Raphael Guerriero with Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes impressing Fernandez the most. Barcelona have plenty of areas to strengthen in the summer transfer window and for the midfield area, and Fernandez is determined to beat Real Madrid for Andre Gomes.

Zidane and Real Madrid see him as the perfect signing for their midfield. Real Madrid are heavily dependent on Luka Modric and Toni Kroos and Zidane thinks that the signing of Andre Gomes will ease the burden on the duo.

Andre Gomes is tipped to be the next big thing in Portuguese football and it is easy to see why. His physical strength has also helped him with aerial challenges this season. In addition, the youngster has the rare ability to pass and shoot equally well with each foot. Gomes has all the tools needed to develop into a solid box-to-box midfielder, who could play in any position across midfield.

Valencia have set a price tag of €60m for their midfield star, and although it is on the higher side, Valencia are confident of making a handsome profit as both Real Madrid and Barcelona are set to be involved in a bidding war.

The player himself, however, prefers to play under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United. Speaking before the Euros to ESPN, Gomes had said:

"Mourinho is a great coach, no doubt about that, but at the moment I am not concerned about what will happen after the Euros. It will be my first time at a competition of this type, and I just want to think about that now,"

With Gomes being targeted by Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United, Valencia will have a real task on their hands to keep their talented Portuguese midfielder.
