Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o has revealed that manager Jose Mourinho “loses his mind” in the build-up to matches, report Goal.

The Portuguese boss saw his team claim a convincing 6-0 victory over Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday which moved the west Londoners four points of second placed Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.

Eto’o scored the opener with a delicious curled effort before being withdrawn through injury and is now regarded as the first-choice forward at the club after a string of impressive displays, despite being ruled out for two weeks with a hamstring problem.

The Cameroonian’s age was questioned by Mourinho during an interview that he was unaware was being filmed earlier in the season, but Eto’o believes it is a result of his manager taking the pressure off of his players and carrying it on his own shoulders.

“He becomes someone else in the build-up to matches. Like any human being, he sometimes loses his mind.

“He proved it sometimes like when he did it with me [by calling me old] but he takes all the pressure on himself,” he declared.

Mourinho’s mind games have reached new levels during the current campaign with several public spats with opposition managers, including Arsene Wenger. The Frenchman’s 1,000th game ended in misery on Saturday lunch time but Mourinho’s pursuit of the Premier League crown continues to gather pace.

Samuel Eto’o is now Chelsea’s third top scorer with eight goals in 19 Premier League appearances.
