Sergio Aguero speaks about his future and Ballon D'Or hopes

Aguero

Sergio Aguero who has been instrumental for Manchester City since joining the club in 2011 has said that he is “enjoying” his time at the club. The Argentine marksman seems to show belief in what the Sky Blues are trying to achieve.

He said: “Every year City try to improve the team and while I don't know how it will be next season, obviously the club always wants us to win titles.”

“City are prepared to win titles every year. Obviously the Champions League is a great competition and I think that City are doing everything to win it.”

While there have been reports linking him with a high-profile move to Real Madrid, he has put a dampener on any such move by saying: “The truth is yes, I'm very happy. I'm enjoying these four years that I've had at City and there are still many more years to come. I'm very happy.”

Aguero’s personal ambitions

Manchester City have had a superb return of 107 goals from the former Atletico Madrid striker from 163 appearances. He scored 26 goals in the Premier League this season making him the Golden Boot winner, however, he has his eyes on another prize.

He said: “The truth is that I would be very happy with the Ballon d'Or. I had a great year, I missed some games but the season has been very good, no?

“The Premier League has this vision where (they want) everybody in the world to watch it so I have plenty of chances to at least be nominated for the Ballon d'Or.

“I think for any player it's important. Playing in the Premier League, obviously I have a lot of opportunities.”

Clearly the Argentine is striving to reach the heights that the likes of Real’s Cristiano Ronaldo and his compatriot Lionel Messi have achieved.

Aguero at the moment seems pretty clear about where his immediate future is, what remains to be seen is if he can put in the performances to compete for the individual and team honours that he so craves.
